LovelandLocated just one mile from downtown historic Loveland and the Loveland Bike Trail, Children’s Meeting House has relationships throughout the community. As a Chamber of Commerce member, our administrators attend local business networking meetings and our school hosts an annual visit from the Loveland Valentine Lady. Our children also participate in the Chambers’ annual poetry contest. The Fraternal Order of EaglesThe local chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles has generously supported our fund raising efforts for the past several years. In addition to granting us money for our various projects, they have let us use their facility for our annual Juntique Sale and Community Walk. Our Friends at GrailvilleChildren's Meeting House had been operating out of the Kemper Road Swedenborgian Church for a number of years, but always had to pack up all of the shelves every week so the rooms were available for Sunday School. When asked to start packing up daily, Lucia, Ann, John, Margy and Stephen decided it was time to find a new location. They started brainstorming where the ideal location might be and decided they all loved the area around Grailville. This was in 1976. Having no idea whether or not Grailville would be at all interested in leasing out some space, they thought, can't hurt to ask! So they did, they were, and the rest is history. Later, they sold some land to CMH, but they have always been generous in allowing us access to all 350 acres of this wooded property. Grailville is an education and retreat center that was actually the largest and first Grail in the U.S. It is a living, learning, working community in an environment of beauty and simplicity. They are committed to spiritual search, ecological sustainability, social justice and women's empowerment. They have many organic gardens, walking trails, labyrinths, charming older buildings and a Victorian manor house. Grailville has always welcomed our children. We have used their buildings for our large performances and meetings, walked their pine groves before we had our own trails and shared their baby ducks. We have many shared values and greatly appreciate our relationship with them, and their generosity in sharing their beautiful, peaceful grounds. |
